Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found $90,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop in Sandusky County on April 7.
In a press release issued Friday, troopers say they pulled over a 2010 Nissan Maxima at around 5:30 p.m. on April 7, for a window tint violation. The incident happened on U.S. 20 in Sandusky County. Authorities say criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted during a probable-cause search of the vehicle. Troopers then found two backpacks in the trunk that contained drug contraband.
The driver, Ricardo Pizana, 35, of Fremont, was incarcerated in the Sandusky County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine. Both of those charges are first-degree felonies.
If Pizana is convicted, he could face up to 22 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
