PARMA, Ohio — A Twinsburg man has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally shooting a man in the hallway of an apartment complex in Parma on Friday.
David Tyler Grant, 25, was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting 26-year-old Julius Morgan Sanders. According to Parma police, Grant has posted bond and is currently not in custody.
Officers responded to the State Hill Manor Apartments on State Rd. at approximately 6:11 p.m. on Friday for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male -- later identified as Sanders -- face down in the hallway of a second-floor apartment building. At the same time, another male appeared, allegedly identified himself as the shooter and dropped the handgun that he was holding.
The suspect -- Grant -- was taken into custody without incident.
Sanders suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso and was transported to University Hospital's Parma Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to police, Grant and Sanders knew each other prior to the shooting, which occurred after a physical altercation between the two ensued in the hallway of the apartment complex. A 9mm handgun that was allegedly used in the incident and multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene.
An investigation remains ongoing and the case will be presented to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury for further consideration.
