LORAIN, Ohio — The United States Marshals Service has arrested a shooting suspect "within hours" of the alleged crime.
Authorities claim 25-year-old Luiz Roman was riding a bicycle Wednesday evening near Washington Avenue when he fired a gun into a moving car before fleeing the scene. An unidentified male victim inside the car was shot in the head, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Acting with the Lorain Police Department, members of the Marshals' Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located Roman inside a home on East 29th Street in Lorain. He was taken into custody "without incident."
"Our task force worked closely with the Lorain Police Department to get this suspect off the streets as soon as he was identified, ensuring the safety of the Lorain community," Marshal Pete Elliot said in a statement.
Roman is charged with felonious assault. He pleaded not guilty during arraignment Thursday morning and is scheduled to be back in Lorain Municipal Court Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
