AKRON, Ohio — Less than two days after a teen was gunned down on Akron's south side, authorities have captured the man accused of killing him.
Twenty-year-old Jeremiah Alexander was arrested Friday afternoon inside a home near the 1300 block of Victory Lane. He is charged with murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Tion Johan Anthony.
Authorities say Alexander shot Anthony in the head late Wednesday night near the intersection of Dahlgren Drive and Rosemary Boulevard. Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second 21-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the back.
"We applaud the men and women of the Akron Police Department and the [Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force], who worked together to ensure this violent fugitive was off the streets of Akron," Assistant Chief Deputy Brian Fitzgibbon said in a statement. "Their response resulted in an arrest within 48 hours of this senseless crime."
Details regarding Alexander's court or bond information were not immediately available.
