CLEVELAND — U.S. Marshals on Tuesday arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the killing of a Cleveland teen last summer.
According to a release, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force captured Arshawn Thomas at a home on Hough Avenue this afternoon. An arrest warrant for Thomas had only been issued today.
Thomas is charged with murder for the death of Theodore Broadus, also 18, on the night of July 14, 2023. Authorities say Broadus had been riding in a car with Thomas and three other people when he was shot in the head in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. A Good Samaritan attempted to help him, but he died at the scene on West 38th Street.
"Cleveland Police homicide detectives never gave up on this case and never gave up finding justice for the victim and his family," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "A dedicated partnership between Cleveland Police and our task force brought this suspect into custody within hours of his identification."
A court date for Broadus has not been made public. Officials have also not said if they are still looking for additional suspects in the case.
