CLEVELAND — The U.S. Marshals Service confirms members of its Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force helped arrest a Cleveland woman Friday morning in connection with an area homicide case.
Jasmine Spencer, 27, faces a charge of aggravated murder. Officials say she was apprehended Thursday at her apartment on West 33rd Street, with assistance from the Cleveland Division of Police.
Spencer's arrest stems from the June 18 shooting death of 38-year-old Dontez Lilly, whom authorities say was shot multiple times and found lying on the ground on Archwood Avenue in Brooklyn Centre. Witnesses claim Lilly had gotten into an argument before being killed, and Spencer was eventually captured within a block of the shooting.
"The Cleveland Division of Police is dedicated to ensuring that victims and their families see justice by the investigations they do," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "Our task force maintains a strong partnership to work the fugitive cases and arrest the suspects from their investigations."
Per records, Spencer is currently being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail. A date for her initial court appearance has not been set.
