CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police has released video showing the arrest of an 18-year-old woman who has since been charged with the murder of Officer Shane Bartek on New Year's Eve.
The alleged murder suspect in Bartek's death -- 18-year-old Tamara McLoyd – is facing multiple charges connected to the case, including murder and aggravated murder.
Bartek, 25, was off-duty at the time of the incident, which police say happened in the parking lot of an apartment complex around 6 p.m. in the 4300 block of Rocky River Drive. Bartek was later pronounced dead at Fairview Hospital.
After a pursuit involving several different law enforcement agencies, Bartek's vehicle was recovered. Anthony Butler, Jr. is accused of leading police on a pursuit while allegedly behind the wheel of Bartek’s vehicle. Butler has pled not guilty to charges of failure to comply with an order of a police officer, receiving stolen property and obstructing official business.
The arrest video (above) shows police placing McLoyd into custody at a Sunoco gas station in the early morning hours of January 1. The Cleveland Division of Police also provided the below video of the chopper pursuit of the suspects.
Officer Shane Bartek was a two-year veteran with the Cleveland Division of Police. Funeral services for Bartek were held earlier this month.
