2 suspects wanted by Cleveland police in separate deadly shootings arrested

One of the suspects -- identified as Mar’Shawn Johnson -- was captured in Alabama.

CLEVELAND — A pair of suspects wanted by Cleveland police in two separate shootings have been arrested.

The U.S. Marshals Service outlines the arrests as follows…

17-year-old girl captured

Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force found the teen suspect at an address in the 3200 block of West 44th Street on Monday morning.

She was wanted in connection with a March 1 incident in which Cleveland police say two juveniles were backseat passengers of a moving vehicle when the juveniles shot and killed a 39-year-old man in the back of the head while he was driving the vehicle.

That vehicle crashed near West 23rd Street and Broadview Road.

Police say the 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy fled the scene.

The boy surrendered to Cleveland police last week, according to authorities.

21-year-old Mar’Shawn Johnson arrested in Huntsville, Alabama

Johnson was taken into custody Monday night at a residence near the 3000 block of Panarama East in Huntsville by members of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Cleveland police said Johnson was wanted in connection with an incident dating back to Jan. 13 in the 1700 block of West 25th Street where 49-year-old Roderick Phillips was shot multiple times.

Authorities said Johnson “was allegedly involved in a physical altercation” with Phillips when the shooting took place.

Police said Johnson fled the scene, while Phillips was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Anybody with information concerning any wanted fugitive is asked to contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833).
