MEDINA, Ohio -- A 17-year-old boy has been found guilty to multiple charges connected to the death a 98-year-old Wadsworth woman.
The judge rendered the guilty verdict Friday morning after Gavon Ramsay changed his plea to no contest on all counts in the murder of Margaret Douglas.
Ramsay struggled to fight back tears as the judge ordered him to be transferred to the Medina County Jail.
Sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
Douglas, a widow who lived alone, had been strangled to death back in April. Her body was left inside a closet at her Portage Street home.
Authorities said Douglas' wallet was found inside Ramsay's home. Detectives also found photos of Douglas, both alive and dead, on Ramsay's phone. The teen was taken into custody in Cleveland roughly a week after her death and confessed to the crime, according to the Medina County Prosecutor.
He was indicted by a grand jury in May and initially pleaded not guilty to the charges on June 5.
Ramsay is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 3. He faces life behind bars without parole.
