WESTLAKE, Ohio — A Cleveland man is currently out on bond after allegedly firing a gun at another vehicle while driving drunk on I-90 two weeks ago.
Authorities began investigating around 5 p.m. on May 5, when someone came into the Avon police station and reported being shot at while driving on the highway between Cahoon and Crocker Roads in Westlake. The victim said the Blue Ford Explorer had been driving "erratically" before the victim passed him in his truck, which led to the suspect firing at least one round that hit the victim's passenger side door.
As officers were gathering statements, North Ridgeville police said they had pulled the suspect over in their city, finding him with a loaded handgun and reporting him to be with a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit. The 41-year-old was processed at the Lorain County Jail before being handed over to Westlake officials.
The unidentified suspect is charged with felonious assault in Cuyahoga County and OVI in Lorain County, and was released from jail after posting 10% of a $100,000 bond. Police also confiscated additional weapons from his home.
No one was hurt in the incident.
