Willoughby Hills police issue alert after two men allegedly enter home posing as electrical workers

Anyone with information regarding their identities or whereabouts is asked to immediately call (440) 942-9111.

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — Police in Lake County are asking residents to be vigilant after two men allegedly gain entry into a home while claiming to be electrical workers.

According to Willoughby Hills authorities, two men came to a house on the 35000 block of Dixon Road wearing reflective vests and illuminating company IDs. They claimed to be "from the city" and said they had to check some power outlets and the plumbing.

However, the homeowners apparently felt the situation "seemed odd to them and did not feel right," and not long after arriving the two suspects left quickly and drove off. Police later spoke to the illuminating company, who confirmed any visits from their workers would only happen after being confirmed with the people who own the home.

While nothing appeared to have been stolen from the home, officials say "actions such as this could be used as a pretense to the planning of future criminal activity." Both suspects were said to be about average height and in their 30s, with one having a stocky build and black and brown hair while the other was of more medium build with brown hair. They are believed to be driving a "newer" white Ford Explorer.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects' identities or whereabouts is asked to immediately call the Willoughby Hills Police Department at (440) 942-9111.
