Woman robbed with BB gun at Dollar General in Akron; police searching for suspect

The incident took place at the Dollar General located in 600 block of N. Main Street.

AKRON, Ohio — Akron Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was robbed with a BB gun at a Dollar General store in Akron on Thursday.

Officers responded to the Dollar General in the 600 block of N. Main Street at 2:27 p.m. for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers found a 42-year-old victim, who said she had been robbed. The officer told police that she was at the counter trying to complete a Cash App deposit when she was confronted by the suspect, who was in line behind her.

The victim told police that the suspect produced a handgun and threatened her while demanding her money. After a struggle ensued, the suspect took the money and ran out of the store, fleeing westbound on a gray bicycle with a basket on the back toward N. Howard Street. 

The suspect left behind his gun, which turned out to be a BB gun. The victim suffered minor injuries to her hand and foot in the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a 35-40-year-old male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and 150-160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black baseball hat, a neon yellow t-shirt, gray pants with lines on the side, and black shoes with white trim during the robbery, as well as a greenish-colored, camo-style mask.
