CLEVELAND — A woman and her son from Westlake are facing several federal charges for entering the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021 riots.

According to a U.S. District Court criminal complaint and arrest warrant, Kimberly Wargo and her son Colton were charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority, plus violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

The Wargos told the FBI that they had been in Washington D.C. on January 6 to attend President Donald Trump's rally as a joint session of Congress was meeting to certify the results of the recent presidential election. They admitted that they walked with a large crowd of Trump supporters to the Capitol, then entered the bulding when they saw an open door.

The FBI believes the Wargos walked inside the Capitol for approximately 30 minutes. Both told investigators that they left after a team of police officers yelled at them and told them to get out of the building.

According to records obtained through a search warrant served on Google, a mobile device associated with Colton Wargo was present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Wargo also admitted to the FBI that an image of a man and a woman inside the Capitol was indeed himself and his mother.
