FIRST LOOK | Dave's Market and Eatery ready for Midtown opening Wednesday

This Dave's is different.

CLEVELAND — Dave's Market, the local staple in small grocery shopping, is ready for its Midtown debut.

But this one isn't your standard grocery store. It's not even the Dave's you've come to know as a Northeast Ohioan. You won't find the same checkered store signs, and fried chicken is no longer your main option when it comes to prepared foods.

WKYC got a live first look inside the store before it opens Wednesday:

This Dave's will be different. Complete with a food-court style restaurant, community space and teaching kitchen, the store also fills a key space among the city's food deserts.

The Eatery will feature an array of options, including a hibachi stand, falafel, BBQ, sub sandwiches and more. It also has a coffee and drink bar.

The teaching kitchen comes as a partnership with University Hospitals, where organizations can reserve the space to host cooking classes and healthy eating events.

The community space is designed for gatherings of all types, while the store will also have a pharmacy and liquor store. A First Federal Lakewood branch is set to open in the store in the coming months.

Dave's Market and Eatery is set to open Wednesday at 10 a.m. at E. 61st Street and Chester Avenue. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
