CLEVELAND — As college-bound seniors are scrambling to fill out their 'early decision' applications prior to the November 1 deadline, WalletHub has compiled a list of the best colleges and universities in the state of Ohio and the nation for 2020.
According to the data, Cleveland's Case Western Reserve University is Ohio's best. WalletHub took over 1,000 higher-education institutions in the United States based on 33 key measures grouped into seven categories, including career outcomes, student selectivity, and cost & financing.
The data set ranges from student-faculty ratio, to graduation rate, to post-attendance median salary.
Here are Ohio's Top 10 colleges and universities:
- Case Western Reserve University
- Ohio State University-Columbus
- Kenyon College
- Oberlin College
- Miami University-Oxford
- College of Wooster
- Walsh University
- Denison University
- Marietta College
- University of Cincinnati
In a closer examination of the data, Case Western Reserve ranked first in Ohio in admission rate, first in gender & racial diversity, and first in post-attendance median salary. Case also was No. 3 in Ohio in graduation rate.
Case Western Reserve University also ranked No. 37 among the nation's top colleges and universities. Here were the top 5 in that ranking:

- Harvard University
- Princeton University
- Yale University
- Stanford University
