Cleveland mentoring program helps students prepare for higher education

WKYC spent the day working to recruit mentors for the first class of local students to receive Say Yes to Education tuition scholarships.

All day long, WKYC worked to recruit mentors for the first class of local students to receive Say Yes to Education tuition scholarships. 

WKYC has teamed up with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and College Now to help students heading to college in the fall succeed at the next level.

So you're probably wondering does mentoring work? College Now's pilot mentoring class has a 72 percent graduation rate compare that to just 56 percent for a student without a mentor.

On Monday, WKYC's Russ Mitchell introduced us to his mentee, Mario Wilson.
