CLEVELAND -- State report cards released Thursday graded the Cleveland Metropolitan School District an 'F' overall, but showed improvement among test scores and graduation rates.
The district recorded a record-high graduation rate at 74.6 percent, a 2.5 percent increase. CMSD's performance index, which is a composite of all test scores, also improved to a D grade.
CMSD student English and Math scores improved across most grades, contributing to a 6.7 percent increase in overall test scores.
Literacy remains a concern, as the K-3 score fell from a C to a D, though the district says this was largely due to a change in the cutoff score.
“The truest measure of performance is how well a District fares in graduating students,” CEO Eric Gordon said in a news release. “We continue to make strides in that area.”
