LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — The Lorain County sheriff’s office has reopened their school supply store -- and any teacher in need of supplies for their classroom is encouraged to visit. The only requirement will be that you must produce your school ID, verifying that you work for a school system located within Lorain County.
Alexis Hayden is a teacher at Frank Jacinto Elementary School and was able to pick whatever she needed for her classroom.
“I don't think hard is the right word," Hayden said. "It's become second nature to go to the store prior to the school year to go and get supplies."
From top to bottom, what once was a storage closet is now filled with the very things that set students up for success.
“These kids when they come to school, sometimes their parents are on fixed incomes. We understand that," said Sheriff Phil Stammitti. "These teachers, they’re on fixed incomes. For us to be able to supply some of this stuff, that makes our employees feel great, too.”
If you’re a teacher in Lorain, here’s what you need to know:
Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the store will be open monthly on the second Saturday of each month through the 2021 school year -- except for December. The last month of operation is set for May of 2022.
