CLEVELAND — As some students throughout Ohio made their return to in-person learning this week for the first time in nearly a year, one school wanted to make sure everybody was ready.
East Academy, which is a K-8 public charter school in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood, did so by unleashing a music video with the help of Mrs. Tajuana Taylor. East Academy is calling it the “Back to School Anthem.”
Here’s a sample of the lyrics: “2020 got us all clowned. First lost Kobe, then the COVID came around. But this new term it’s about to go down, got to stay solid 10 toes on the ground. Got to wear all these masks on our face, six feet no one can be in our space. But our hustle, though, it can’t be erased.”

The video also features a handful of masked students dancing with Mrs. Taylor throughout the anthem. Although East Academy says most of their students have been attending classes in-person since August, they wanted other students throughout Ohio to hear their message about being in school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
