The Cleveland Metropolitan School District announced they are expanding their participation in the Verizon Innovative Learning program, which addresses barriers to digital inclusion.
The partnership will give every student and teacher a device and up to a four-year data plan at the Douglas MacArthur Girls’ Leadership Academy, Euclid Park School, Garfield School, George Washington Carver STEM School and Kenneth W. Clement Boys’ Leadership Academy.
The schools will join five other CMSD schools that have already been participating in the Verizon Innovative Learning partnership.
“We are working hard to provide all of our students with the technology, internet access and digital skills they need to be successful,” CMSD Chief Executive Officer Eric Gordon said. “The Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program has been a huge help in ensuring we achieve that goal.”
The program will offer free technology and access, extensive teacher training and support, as well as the opportunity to be a part of teaching and learning in and out of the classroom.
“This expansion continues Verizon’s commitment to ensuring underserved communities have access to technology and the skills needed to engage in the digital economy,” Jessica Cohen, Verizon’s Director of Community Engagement said. “We could not be more pleased to grow our partnership with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to put more technology and connectivity in the hands of students.”
