Virtual 'Safety Town' program helps kids prepare for school in Stow

The program is designed to help children learn a variety of topics as they enter school.

STOW, Ohio — The Coronavirus pandemic is changing how the world does just about everything, including supplemental education.

In Stow, the educational program for children, Safety Town went virtual with kids completing the course online instead of meeting with teachers in-person.

According to the city’s website, Safety Town is a program designed to help kindergarten aged children learn a variety of topics as they enter school.

The one week sessions included the following topics:

  • Fire safety
  • Safety belts
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Bike safety
  • Bus safety
  • Stranger awareness
  • Playground safety

According to the Stow Fire Department’s Facebook page, once kids complete the online course they were able to pickup special completion grab bags.

Stow firefighters along with Sparky, McGruff and Bubbles were all waiting to greet the graduates as they arrived. Congratulations graduates!
