MIAMI — Former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson is "doing great" after a health scare on a flight from Florida, his representative told multiple media outlets.

As In Touch first reported, the 57-year-old was on an American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday evening when he suffered an apparent medical emergency.

The flight was first delayed two hours so the plane could cool off after sitting in the Florida heat all day, the outlet reported. After greeting some fans in the airport, Tyson reportedly boarded without issue around 6:30 p.m.

About 30 minutes before the flight was set to land, passengers reported being asked if there were any medical personnel onboard. Those passengers told In Touch they were held on the plane for another 25 minutes after landing so paramedics could board to treat Tyson.

Many passengers reportedly were unaware of who exactly was needing help, TMZ reported.

“Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great. He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing,” the boxing legend's rep said in a statement to media. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

This comes just months before Tyson is set to take on social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a fight on July 20 in Arlington, Texas. He'll be 58.

Tyson hasn't fought a sanctioned, professional boxing match since 2005, when he was 38 years old. He did participate in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020 which ended in a draw.

“He's grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT," Tyson previously told WFAA when speaking about Paul.

Paul, on the other hand, only started boxing in January 2020 but at just 27 years old, has won nine out of his last 10 fights.

Paul seemingly confirmed in a post on X on Monday that the fight is still on despite Tyson's health scare.
