KIRTLAND, Ohio — Looking for a new adventure? How about Holden Arboretum in Lake County.
On Wednesday, WKYC's Sara Shookman climbed to great heights to broadcast live from the attraction's Emergent Tower as part of Extreme Week.
While there, Sara provided us with the following fun facts about the Holden Arboretum and all the exciting things they have to offer. Check out the full clip in the player above.
- Construction crews started work on the tower late in 2013...and air-lifted pre-assembled pieces of the tower, in the middle of the forest. It took almost two years to build -- opening in the late Summer of 2015.
- The Emergent Tower takes visitors 120 feet above the forest floor, and on clear days, you can even see Lake Erie from the top of the tower.
- The Canopy Walk is an elevated walkway 65 feet above the ground. It stretches 500 feet, and has hand rails and steel mesh for safety. Together -- the tower and canopy walk cost $1.3 million dollars -- money that was raised by Holden Arboretum.
