BRUNSWICK, Ohio — You've likely sampled pizza styles from across the country. Chicago deep dish. New York thin crust. Detroit crispy pan.
But a pair of buddies will soon bring Ohio style pizza to Brunswick.
"The first, the original, we're doing it," said creative director Aaron Sechrist.
Sechrist and owner Nick Robson said they wanted to serve a classic dish that will "never, ever go away." They decided pizza or burgers would fit the criteria and soon landed on the idea to open a pizzeria, especially after Robson said he grew tired of the great American pizza debate failing to include the Buckeye state,
Ohio Pie Co. serves up original Ohio pizza, meaning you'll get a crust of medium thickness, cheese from edge to edge and a spiral of sweet sauce before the round pies are cut into square pieces.
Ohio Pie Co. also offers specialty pizzas, like the buffalo chicken Firebird, the BBQ chicken Piggy Bird and the deluxe Heart of It All. Vegan eaters won't be left out either, as Ohio Pie Co. creates its own custom vegan cheese blend and vegan sausage made from Impossible Burger.
You won't find Ohio style pizza in many places, and you definitely won't find many pizza places serving breakfast. But Ohio Pie Co. will open its doors at 9 a.m. on weekends to serve brunch pies topped with bacon, eggs and other breakfast favorites.
Ohio Pie Co. opens it doors to the public this Saturday. Find them at 1315 1/2 Pearl Road in Brunswick and learn more here.
