SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Damage from this week's flooding is beginning to surface in the form of crumbling roadways in Summit County.
Crews were out for hours on Tuesday assessing the damage near the border of Norton and New Franklin. On Manchester Road In New Franklin, a large crater sits on the edge. The road was closed to traffic as crews took a look at the damage.
And in Norton, the damage spreads across the width the roadway.
Tim Levee lives nearby and says the bridge had been closed for several weeks due to structural issues. After the heavy rain over the past few days, the problem one grew.
"Water is a powerful thing, don't mess with it. Because it just shoved that whole road away. It's gone," he told us.
The next step is for crews to address how they plan to rebuild and how long these closures will last. The mayor of New Franklin told us that Manchester Road will hopefully reopen sometime in the middle of next week.
