Freezing cold did not force Metroparks to close its chutes

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – Whether you were outside or even inside Saturday, you likely had a tough time escaping the chill that had Northeast Ohio in its grasp.

It seems winter has finally caught up with us, and for some people, that was reason to celebrate.

Few seasonal traditions are as unique to the region as the Cleveland Metroparks toboggan chutes.

Officials discussed closing them if the wind chill dropped below 0. In the end, they stayed open.

Despite the cold there were steady crowds Saturday. Channel 3’s Andrew Horansky gave the chutes a go!
