Cleveland Clinic Children's and UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital both rank No. 3 in Ohio, Midwest by U.S. News & World Report

UH Rainbow and Cleveland Clinic Children's each ranked among the nation's top 50 children's hospitals in the 11 pediatric specialties considered by U.S. News.

CLEVELAND — A pair of Cleveland children's hospitals have been named among the best in the state and region, according to U.S. News & World Report. 

Per U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, Cleveland Clinic Children's and University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital finished in a tie for third for best children's hospital in the state of Ohio and the Midwest region. 

Each hospital ranked among the nation's top 50 children's hospitals in all 11 medical and surgical specialties. 

Here's how Cleveland Clinic Children's fared in the U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals national rankings by specialty:

  • Behavioral Health: Top 50
  • Cancer: 31st
  • Cardiology & Heart Surgery: 9th
  • Diabetes and Endocrinology: 26th
  • Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: 17th 
  • Neonatology: 12th
  • Nephrology: 43rd
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery: 30th
  • Orthopedics: 22nd
  • Pulmonology and Lung Surgery: 39th
  • Urology: 28th

  • Diabetes and Endocrinology: 12th
  • Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: 42nd 
  • Neonatology: 9th
  • Nephrology: 30th
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery: 35th
  • Orthopedics: 13th
  • Pulmonology and Lung Surgery: 15th
  • Urology: 24th

Akron Children's Hospital was also featured in the U.S. News study, finishing fifth in Ohio and having five of its specialties ranked in the top 50, including orthopedics, which ranked No. 20. 

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus and Cincinnati Children's tied for first in both the state and regional rankings. Both hospitals also were named to the 2024-25 U.S. News Best Children's Hospital Honor Roll.
