Cleveland Clinic named No. 2 hospital in the world by Newsweek

5 other Cleveland Clinic locations, including 4 in Ohio, were also ranked among the best in the United States

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Clinic has been ranked as the world's second best hospital for the sixth year in a row.

The Cleveland-based medical center took the No. 2 spot in Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals rankings for 2024, which features 250 hospitals based on surveys and data from hospitals in 30 countries.

“At Cleveland Clinic, our goals are to be the best place to receive care anywhere and the best place to work in healthcare,” CEO and President Tom Mihaljevic said. “A recognition like this reflects on every one of our 81,000 caregivers worldwide, who are dedicated, compassionate and committed to our patients and our communities.”

Cleveland Clinic placed second to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

The Clinic was not the only hospital in Cleveland to make the list; University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center came in at No. 154, while Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital was ranked No. 232.

Additionally, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi was ranked No. 186 in the world and was Newsweek's highest rated hospital in the United Arab Emirates.

In addition to the world rankings, Cleveland Clinic was ranked No. 2 in the United States and several other Northeast Ohio hospitals made Newsweek's U.S. rankings. Those hospitals include:

  • University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center: No. 28
  • Cleveland Clinic Fairview: No. 38

  • Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest: No. 112
