WADSWORTH, Ohio — Does it seem like everybody around you is sick with something?
You're not alone...
Citing an “overwhelming amount” of students and staff with fever or illness, Northside Christian Academy in Wadsworth was closed Tuesday, Feb. 6.
“The cleaning crew will be disinfecting our building tonight and tomorrow,” the school posted on their Facebook page Monday. “Please monitor your child’s symptoms for illness.”
While uncommon, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health says they have seen some schools close due to illness.
As we're in the midst of sick season, Jana Rush, the Director of Epidemiology at the Board of Health, says it’s important to limit your contact with others if you start feeling under the weather.
“First and foremost is making sure that you don’t gather with folks if you’re currently sick or you have symptoms and you’re coming down with something like a little sniffle or cough,” says Jana Rush, Director of Epidemiology at the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. “We’re recommending that people stay home for at least 48 hours to 72 hours.”
In addition to minimizing your exposure, it’s also important to remember the basics like covering your mouth and washing your hands. And don’t forget to teach your kids those proper techniques, too.
