179th Airlift Wing to fly over Northeast Ohio on Friday to salute heroes in fight against COVID-19

They will fly over Cleveland before noon.

MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio Air National Guard's 179th Airlift Wing is scheduled to conduct a C-130 flyover across Northeast Ohio this Friday as a salute to heroes at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.

The 179th Airlift Wing flybys seek to give a salute to healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential workers. It's their way of saying thank you for helping to keep Ohioans safe.

Friday's flyover will begin in the north central part of the state. The C-130 aircraft will leave from Mansfield at 11:03 a.m.

The planes should be able to be seen in Cleveland around 11:43 a.m. as they will make a sharp turn at the cluster of hospitals around Cleveland Clinic, go near the lake, then head out of Cleveland over I-77 towards Akron.

Akron residents should be able to see the flyby around 11:52 a.m., followed by a stop in Canton at 11:58 a.m.

Flights are contingent upon weather conditions. See more below. .
