On Wednesday, Bridgestone Americas announced a $100 vaccine payment program for all of its U.S. employees, including over 600 workers at the Akron Technical Center.
The one-time payment is available to all of Bridgestone America's 33,000 U.S. employees who receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The company is providing the money to help employees who may miss work, have child care issues, transportation costs or other potential obstacles that may arise with getting the vaccine.
Bridgestone Americas says it will continue its proactive COVID-19 education and outreach to employees, which includes the latest informational materials from the Center for Disease Control.
The company will continue to remind employees of the importance of social distancing, wearing masks and increased handwashing.
Bridgestone Americas encourages employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but it is not mandatory.
Bridgestone is exploring a similar offer to employees in Canada and Latin America.
