As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in India, doctors are dealing with a secondary crisis. There is a lack of critical care supplies to care for COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients in that country.
The Cleveland Clinic announced it will help the COVID-ravaged country by sending a stockpile of personal protective equipment or PPE to medical professionals there.
On Friday, the Cleveland Clinic says it is shipping 138 pallets of PPE to India. The pallets contain face masks, face shields, gloves and more. In addition, the Cleveland Clinic is also shipping cots and mattresses to support Indian hospitals as they run out of beds to house patients.
The equipment contained on 115 of those pallets will then be distributed to medical facilities in need by the Indian Red Cross.
The Cleveland Clinic is also setting up a way that the public can be a part of the effort to reach those on the ground fighting the COVID-19 battle in India.
You can make a monetary donation to help purchase needed medicine, supplies and equipment like oxygen concentrators and BiPAP machines. Donations can be made HERE. Once funds are collected, the Cleveland Clinic says it will send another shipment of PPE to India and to the Indian Red Cross for distribution.
