CLEVELAND — Just a few weeks ago, the Cleveland Orchestra announced it was canceling its April and May offerings because of the coronavirus outbreak in Northeast Ohio.
Starting Monday though, those who miss the orchestra can hear some of their archived recordings every weekday, online and on the radio, thanks to their new series, Lunchtime with the Cleveland Orchestra. The series airs from noon to 1 p.m. on WCLV 104.9 and on Ideastream's website.
Each edition of Lunchtime with the Cleveland Orchestra will feature select pieces from the archives, background on the pieces, and recent interviews with orchestra Director, Franz Welser-Möst and Cleveland Orchestra musicians.
"Although much has changed in our daily lives and routines in recent weeks... all of us at The Cleveland Orchestra remain deeply committed to the people of our great community," André Gremillet, President & CEO of The Cleveland Orchestra, said in a press release. "Music can lift spirits and inspire hope for the future. While we cannot offer live performances at this time, we can and will share our music and do everything we can to help make the world a better place."
The Orchestra's regular weekend segments will continue.
