NEW FRANKLIN, Ohio — The New Franklin community is mourning the devastating loss of Therese Leslie, wife of the town's fire chief Steve Leslie, who passed away from COVID-19 complications over the weekend.

"There are no words to express the grief we feel here in the City at the loss of one so dear to one of us," Mayor Paul Adamson said in a news release posted on the city's Facebook page.

Therese Leslie was just 57 years old.

"Chief Leslie has worked tirelessly through this pandemic to respond to the needs of our community, and his wife was a pillar of support to him throughout," Mayor Adamson writes. "We trust that she is resting comfortably now with the Lord. Please join your prayers with ours for Chief Leslie and his family during this most difficult time and respect the family's privacy while they grieve."
