As COVID-19 cases once again spike in the state of Ohio, multiple school districts have seen an interruption to in-person learning.

Below, we have compiled a list of Northeast Ohio schools that have made announcements in regards to moving to remote learning this month because of coronavirus concerns:

Bay Village City Schools:

The district has shifted to eLearning effective Wednesday, November 18th. At this time, Bay is planning to return to In-building mode on Monday, December 7th. "We are making this difficult decision because we are well aware that there is increasing community spread across our city, county and state resulting in rising hospitalizations and quarantines. This surge is being reflected in our own data," Superintendent Jodie Hausmann wrote in a letter to parents.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District:

Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools have shifted to a full remote learning model until Friday, December 18 when winter break begins. "Our current local numbers and the inability to find substitutes for those staff members who have either tested positive for COVID-19, or who are under a quarantine order, present significant challenges in staffing our buildings. Further, we continue to see positive cases in our high school despite having been remote for a full week," the district said in a letter on its website.

Chardon Local Schools:

Chardon Local Schools will move to its Remote Learning Model beginning on Monday, December 7 and continuing through Monday, January 4. For the rest of this week, school will remain in session to allow children to bring home personal belongings, technology, textbooks, and materials and to review procedures with teachers and administrators to prepare for the transition to remote learning.

Clearview Local Schools:

In an email sent to 3News, an official for the district said that due to rising COVID-19 cases within the county, the schools will go fully remote beginning on Monday, November 23. This includes all hybrid students currently attending Vinect Elementary School, Durling Middle School, and Clearview High School.

Coventry Local School District:

Due to the recent number of positive cases, potential spread, and the number of Coventry staff and students impacted by COVID-19, Coventry Schools says it will transition to remote-learning on Thursday, November 12 through Friday, December 4. Students will resume in-person learning on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Kenston Schools:

The district will begin remote learning on Monday, December 7 through Tuesday, December 22. Kenston plans to return to in-person instruction on Monday, January 4. Along with local health officials, school leaders will continue to assess the ability to return to in-person learning and communicate any changes in return plans to families as information becomes available.

For the rest of this week, children will be bringing home belongings, textbooks, materials and reviewing procedures to prepare for the transition to the remote learning model.

Kirtland Local Schools:

On Friday, Kirtland made the decision to move fully remote beginning on Monday, November 23. The last day for all extracurricular activities within the district will be Saturday, November 21.

Madison Local School District:

The district announced that it will continue to remain in virtual learning mode through December 22, 2020.

Painesville City Local Schools:

The district will be closed for in-person learning while Lake County is at the "purple" risk level. All students will transition to remote learning. Schools will be closed for in-person learning until at least December 14.

For students in grades six through twelve, and for elementary students who were already online learners, nothing will change from what they are currently doing for remote learning.

Riverside Local Schools:

The district announced that all students (grades Pre-K-12) will transition to remote learning until at least the end of Winter Break.

Near the end of Winter Break, in collaboration with the Lake County General Health District, school leaders will reassess the situation to determine a return date, which will be based upon the level and severity of COVID-19 spread, as well as the District’s ability to maintain adequate staffing.

In addition, all in-person athletics and club activities will remain paused until further notice. Coaches and advisors will continue to communicate to students virtually and provide updates as information becomes available.

St. Ignatius High School:

St. Ignatius has announced that it has pivoted to remote learning for the remainder of the calendar year. The school says its plan is to resume in person learning on Monday, January 11, returning with its current On Campus schedule.

St. Joseph and John School in Strongsville:
