CLEVELAND — If you’re planning on going inside any county buildings anytime soon, you need to bring a face covering with you.

Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish has signed an executive order that requires face coverings in county buildings amid efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“The face covering requirement includes all County employees under the jurisdiction of the County Executive when in a common area within any County building or if the employee's workspace is within six feet of a common area and there is no barrier at least seven feet high surrounding the employee's workspace,” officials said in a press release.

The face covering must cover your nose, mouth and chin.

“The health and safety of our residents and employees is my top priority, and I am going to continue to do everything I can to keep our employees and the public safe,” Budish said.

There are several exceptions in which face coverings do not need to be worn, including:

  • When not advisable for health reasons.
  • While the employee is working alone and sufficiently isolated from other employees or common areas.
  • Under any other circumstance recognized by the Ohio Department of Health.

The order will remain in effect "until the emergency no longer exists."
