Ohio Governor Mike DeWine held a press briefing on Monday to address the state's response to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Here were some of the topics discussed by DeWine and his medical panel of experts during Monday's briefing.
Hospitalizations
Perhaps uncoincidentally, DeWine's Monday press briefing comes on the heels of a recent surge of hospitalizations across the Buckeye State.
On Sunday, Ohio reported an increase of 168 known active hospitalizations, bringing the state's total of active hospitalizations to a record of 4,908. That marked the second straight day that Ohio had set a new hospitalization record -- an alarming trend with coronavirus-related numbers expected to increase following the Thanksgiving holiday.
DeWine was joined by medical professionals in Akron, Toledo, Dayton, and Columbus for a report from the front lines on the battle against COVID-19.
Working remotely
With the state's coronavirus (COVID-19) numbers continuing to surge, DeWine is asking all employees who can work remotely to continue to do so, including state employees.
As DeWine noted, state employees were originally scheduled to resume working in the office again beginning in early-January. The state, however, has since put those plans on hold a result of Ohio's rise in coronavirus trends.
"A number of people across Ohio have been able to work from home since the pandemic began," DeWine said. "At this time of a great increase in cases and as we see our hospitals fill up with COVID patients, I again ask anyone who can work from home to do so.
A plea to Washington
"We really need a bill," DeWine said. "We need Democrats and Republicans to come together in Congress and put a bill together. I know a lot of people want to get it done in Congress, the President does. It just needs to happen. Everything from allowing us to roll money over so that we don't have to make decisions in December when we really need to use that money beyond December and into next year. Unemployment, there's many, many, many needs. I won't go through them all today. But we need to see a bill come out of Congress."
