As he does each Thursday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine unveiled the state's weekly Ohio Public Health Advisory System coronavirus risk level map. In doing so, DeWine shared that 96 percent of the state now finds itself at an "orange" Level 2 or "red" Level 3, the latter of which indicates "very high exposure and spread" of the coronavirus.

Portage County, Trumbull County and Mahoning have each been designated as Level 3 (red) this week, while Richland County and Ashland County remain in Level 3, which is where they were listed last week. Cuyahoga County, Geauga County, Lake County, Lorain County, Summit County, Medina County, Ashtabula County and Stark County are each listed as Level 2 (orange), which indicates "increased exposure and spread."

Regarding Portage County, DeWine noted recent outbreaks that have occurred at Kent State University. DeWine also shared that Kent State is partnering with CVS Health to provide free testing for students beginning on Oct. 12. and that 450 students will be randomly tested each week.

As for Trumbull County, which as increased from Level 1 (yellow) to Level 3 (red), DeWine pointed to an outbreak associated with a school sports team that has led to one coach who has since been hospitalized due to the virus. DeWine noted that school administrators have been cooperative and that there is currently one case in at least one-third of school districts in the county.
