Employee at GetGo in Brunswick tests positive for coronavirus

Officials say the store has been sanitized and has since reopened.

PITTSBURGH — Employees at three Giant Eagle-owned locations have tested positive for coronavirus, including at the GetGo gas station in Brunswick.

Officials say the individual was last at the station on Tuesday, and that the facility has since been sanitized and is open again. The person is now being quarantined and their exact condition is unknown.

The company said, in part:

"In these instances, our priorities will be to ensure that those affected are notified and cared for, that the company exceeds industry requirements in its efforts to thoroughly sanitize all potentially affected work areas, and that all activities are done in accordance with guidance from relevant authorities including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and County Health Departments."

Two other Giant Eagle employees tested positive, and all work at supermarkets in Pennsylvania. Between employees and customers, a total of five stores have been affected by the virus -- with four of the locations being in Pennsylvania.

While both that state and Ohio have issued stay-at-home orders for all residents, gas stations and grocery stores have been deemed "essential" and are therefore still up and running.

There are currently more than 1,100 cases of coronavirus in Ohio, including 32 in Medina County alone.
