CLEVELAND — There’s a big change happening at Giant Eagle locations starting Monday as the grocery store chain adjusts its COVID safety precautions by no longer requiring masks for fully vaccinated shoppers or employees.
“Those not fully vaccinated will continue to be required to wear a mask or other face covering while in-store,” Giant Eagle officials said in a statement. “For those not fully vaccinated who are unable to wear a mask or other face covering, Giant Eagle’s online grocery ordering continues to be available with convenient curbside pickup and delivery options.”
The updated mask policy impacts Giant Eagle's grocery stores and GetGo locations. Giant Eagle said they decided to drop the mask requirement for those who are fully vaccinated based on the CDC’s guidance as more people get a COVID-19 vaccine.
Other stores that have dropped their mask requirements for fully vaccinated people include:
- Target
- Walmart
- Walgreens
- BJ's Wholesale Club
- Costco
- CVS
- Home Depot
- Kohl's

“As we continue to navigate this public health crisis, it is vital that we all work together to protect ourselves and each other,” Giant Eagle officials said. “To best do this, we have taken steps to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine by offering walk-up availability in our in-store pharmacy locations. We encourage anyone eligible who has not yet received the vaccine to consider doing so.”
