COLUMBUS, Ohio — What are your odds of winning Ohio's first Vax-A-Million $1 million drawing this week? About one in 2.76 million.

At a press briefing to address the state's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on Monday, DeWine touted the success of the Vax-A-Million program, in which Ohio will hold five weekly $1 million lotteries for people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. In doing so, DeWine revealed that to this point, 2,758,470 of the 5.17 million Ohioans who have begun the process of receiving the vaccine have opted into the lottery and will be eligible for its first drawing this week.
While the deadline for Wednesday's drawing was Sunday, Ohioans who have been vaccinated can still sign up for the subsequent four drawings at https://www.ohiovaxamillion.com.
Additionally on Monday, DeWine revealed that the age range that has seen the biggest increase in vaccinations following the announcement of the Vax-A-Million lottery has been 16-17-year-olds, which has seen a 94 percent increase. According to DeWine, 104,386 Ohioans ages 12-17 have opted into the Vax-A-Million drawing for a full-ride scholarship to any Ohio state university.
"We're more than happy with the results," DeWine said. "This was just so important to our future as a state -- our immediate future and our long-term future. Having more people vaccinated really allows us to get back to normal."
According to DeWine, the media attention drawn by the Vax-A-Million lottery has resulted in $15 million worth of free earned media. The winner of this week's drawing will be announced on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:29 p.m.
