SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Coventry Local Schools in Summit County has announced that two of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the district, the employees work in separate buildings and the two cases are not related.

On Thursday, the district said that nine of its employees were being quarantined after an employee at Coventry Elementary tested positive for coronavirus. As a result, in a voicemail obtained by 3News, the district indicated that it is cancelling school for only second grade students Friday, September 11.

Additionally, all second grade students will begin remote learning beginning Monday, September 14 through Monday, September 21.

Anyone who came in contact with the employee who tested positive is being notified, according to the district.

In a letter, the district told parents, staff, and community members that "there is nothing more important to the Coventry Local School District than the safety and health of our students, our staff, and their families." Coventry adds that it is working directly with Summit County health officials to address the situation.
