As the economy faces the fallout of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced some relief.
On Saturday, Husted shared that the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation will allow businesses to forego payments March, April, and May and defer payments until June 1. Husted said the action will leave an estimated $200 million in the economy.
Additionally, on Saturday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued an order closing adult day services for people with disabilities. The order is the latest in a series that have been issued since the first positive case of the coronavirus was discovered in Ohio on March 9.
In addition to adult day services, DeWine has issued orders to ban mass gatherings of 50 or more people, as well as the closures of various entities including bars and restaurants, gyms, hair salons, senior citizen day care, movie theaters and BMVs. Additionally, Ohio schools K-12 will be closed for at least three weeks, and likely longer.
As of Saturday, Ohio has found 247 confirmed coronavirus cases, 58 of which have resulted in hospitalization and three deaths. Other deaths related to the virus remain under investigation.
