COLUMBUS, Ohio — As the weather starts to warm up, Ohioans have been wondering when they will be able to return to the state's campgrounds to enjoy the outdoors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thursday, those questions were answered by Lt. Gov. Jon Husted.
Husted announced that campgrounds can reopen on May 21st if they can meet safety protocols. Those protocols have been laid out here.
Among the mandatory protocols: Information must be posted throughout the campgrounds and surrounding areas to frequently remind campers and customers to take steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Also, campgrounds must maintain public restrooms, showerhouses, and laundry facilities to lower risk of spread of virus.
In addition to the good news about campgrounds, there were several other announcements about openings of businesses and services throughout the state to come later this month that were made on Thursday.
