Watch again: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine updates COVID-19 cases in Wednesday press conference

From the vaccine to holiday precautions, Gov. DeWine is expected to provide an update on the state's COVID-19 situation.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is hosting another afternoon press conference Wednesday to provide an update on the state’s COVID-19 response ahead of Christmas.

We will stream Gov. DeWine’s press conference live inside this story at 2 p.m. You can also watch live on our Facebook or YouTube pages.

Here are some things you can expect Gov. DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted to discuss:

NEW COVID-19 DATA

As always, Gov. DeWine will offer a recap of the state’s latest COVID-19 data. One thing to note is that Ohio hasn’t seen new daily infections higher than 10,000 since last week. Will Ohio continue that trend?

CHRISTMAS CONCERNS

Earlier this week, Gov. DeWine credited Ohioans for their cautious behavior during the Thanksgiving holiday. Now, with Christmas in just two days, you can expect he will continue his plea for everybody to follow the state’s 10 “stay safe Ohio” protocols to slow the spread of coronavirus.

VACCINE UPDATES

Now that both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have arrived in Ohio, it’s likely Gov. DeWine will discuss the state’s ongoing distribution process.

STAND YOUR GROUND BILL

Although it’s not a coronavirus-related topic, Gov. DeWine might mention what’s next for Ohio’s “stand your ground” gun bill. Earlier this week, DeWine hinted he may veto the bill. You can read more about the bill here.
