COLUMBUS, Ohio — Editor's note: Video at the top of this story was originally published on Dec. 19, 2020.
While we traditionally get COVID-19 updates from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine every Tuesday and Thursday, his office has announced he will be holding a press briefing at 2 p.m. today.
We will stream the press conference live inside this story. You can also watch on our Facebook or YouTube pages.
Lt. Gov. Jon Husted will also participate in the press conference.
So what can you expect?
VACCINE UPDATE
We expect Gov. DeWine to provide an update on how Ohio is handling the distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer’s vaccine was first given to limited groups of Ohioans last week. Moderna’s vaccine, meanwhile, will be given to some Ohioans starting this week.
As we reported Saturday, however, there are some concerns that the overall vaccination effort may have slowed down. It comes as officials in dozens of states – including Ohio – say their promised Pfizer allotments were reduced by up to 40% for this coming week.
CHRISTMAS CONCERNS
As Christmas arrives this Friday, it’s likely Gov. DeWine will make another plea to all Ohioans to remain cautious and avoid gatherings to slow the spread of COVID-19.
UPDATED NUMBERS
As always, the state updates its COVID-19 data at 2 p.m. each day. We anticipate Gov. DeWine will highlight the latest trends. You can track the latest data here.
