All in-person organization events at Ohio State suspended through the end of the year due to COVID-19

The suspension applies to both on and off-campus activities

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State University announced on Thursday that all in-person organization events or gatherings are suspended due to concerns of the rising COVID-19 cases throughout the university and the state.

In a message sent to students, The Ohio State Office of Student Life says that all in-person organization gatherings, meetings and activities will be prohibited through the end of the calendar year.

"As we near the point in the semester where in-person instruction will be ending and students will be moving away from campus, we must all exercise an abundance of caution to contain the spread of the virus," the letter says.

Ohio State also banned in-person activities at the end of August. That ban was rescinded on Sept. 9.

The new suspension applies to both on and off-campus gatherings of any kind.

The student life office will provide more information as it becomes available regarding the possibility of resuming in-person activities in the spring.
