CLEVELAND — The impact of COVID-19 and its variants continues to be felt in Northeast Ohio. On Monday, Playhouse Square announced that due to rising COVID-19 concerns and the detection of breakthrough cases within the company, the performances of "Wicked" scheduled for Thursday, December 23 and Friday, December 24 have been canceled.
Performances are expected to resume on Sunday, December 26 at 1 p.m.
Ticket holders who purchased directly from Playhouse Square (box office, phone or web) will receive a full refund, including handling fees. Credit card refunds will appear on your account within 7-10 days.
Guests who received or purchased tickets through a third party should contact them directly.
Tickets for remaining performances through January 2 can be purchased at playhousesquare.org.
Rising COVID-19 cases have caused professional and college sports teams locally and around the country to postpone games. Adding to the feeling of covid déjà vu, the Cleveland Orchestra canceled both holiday concerts scheduled for Sunday and Cleveland Play House canceled all remaining performances of "Light it Up!" at Allen Theatre. All of this comes as the omicron variant spreads across the country at an alarming rate, now being reported in nearly all 50 states.
