CLEVELAND — Summa Health has updated their visitor policy following elevated cases of Coronavirus within the state.
On Thursday, Ohio saw more than 7,000 new cases reported in a 24-hour time period and reported the highest single-day increase in hospitalizations.
According to a press release from the hospital, as of Friday, November 13, new temporary policies will be put into place to help decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission in and outside of their facilities.

Summa Health will now allow only one visitor to be with a mother in labor and that person is the only person permitted to visit the new mother while she is inside of the hospital. Minors will also be able to visit with an adult.
The press release does say that exceptions to the new policy will only be made on a case-by-case basis.
In terms of outpatient procedures, one support individual will be allowed only when additional physical assistance is required and the person must check-in at the main entrance of the hospital in which they are visiting.
All guests must meet these requirements, and must not have any COVID-19 symptoms, including a cough, diarrhea, and loss of taste or smell. Visitors will also have their temperature taken upon arrival and will not be permitted if it exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
In addition, masks must be worn in all places and social distancing will still be enforced.
