CLEVELAND — This week we're giving you your morning boost by sharing tips on how to boost your energy. Today, we're talking diet and exercise.
We all know eating leafier greens and fruits can boost our energy, but we spoke with Dr. Munirah Bomani with MetroHealth about other things we might not think about.
Her first tip: Hydrate!
"Water is the most important thing you can do to help increase your energy," she said. "It helps give you beautiful skin, it helps your hair grow and it makes you feel good about yourself."
She said it also helps us ward off those winter pounds we all tend to gain.
"Once you're drinking water, up to eight cups, some people take it an extra level and they drink a gallon of water a day, that makes you feel a lot better."
Maybe you've seen those gallon-sized water bottles that are really popular right now, but those can be intimidating -- especially if you're trying to eat and exercise more. Dr. Bomani says setting goals to see results is better than overdoing it all at once.
"I tell my patients, always, to set micro-goals. So if you want to start exercising, and you never stuck to your new year resolutions, just try 10 minutes a day," she recommends. "You could be walking in place, walking up the stairs, even just stretching when you get out of bed, all of that will help."
Later this week, we'll discuss life hacks with your mental health and your everyday outlook. Hopefully the week will leave you feeling boosted and ready to take on your day!
